August is National Family Fun Month
It’s August which means Summer is coming to an end. It’s time to trade in leisurely family time for busy school schedules packed full of fall activities. But summer isn’t over quite yet, and it’s important to still spend time together as a family. The month of August is all about remembering to keep the family fun going.

At Home Fun
Appreciate what your home has to offer. You don’t have to leave home to have fun! DIY projects are a great way to spend time together (while also staying productive). You can dust off those board games and host a game night and make homemade specialty pizzas for dinner or have a backyard movie night! Add “create a movie screen” to your DIY projects, pick up a portable projector and popcorn at your local Walmart (here are some affordable ones at amazon too), and Voila! You can even camp out in your backyard with your homemade pizza after the movie.
Hometown Tourist Fun
August is usually spent prepping for back to school, so there’s not much time for traveling, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play tourist in your own town. Take the family out around town and learn about its history. Check out the historic buildings and museums in your surrounding area, many offer different shows and exhibits throughout the year. If you venture out on a Saturday, swing by the Farmer’s Market for some local goods and produce and end your family outing with a picnic in the park.
